The best parks in Colorado

From the Rocky Mountains to the Colorado Desert, Colorado’s parks have something for any mood that might strike you. Here are our top three picks for the best parks in Colorado.

Eleven Mile State Park

The Eleven Mile Canyon Dam has created a beautiful reservoir with world class trout fishing, not to mention boating, hiking, camping, kayaking, and water skiing. You can even fish for carp near the shoreline with a bow and arrow (bowfishing).

Golden Gate Canyon State Park

Located conveniently just outside of Golden, this park has over 12,000 acres of mountains, alpine meadows, and pine forests to explore. With over 156 camping sites, there is plenty of variety available, including everything from rustic backwoods sites with no facilities, to cabins and yurts you can rent.

Great Sand Dunes National Park

When most people think of Colorado, they think of mountains. But Colorado has some amazing desert land, too. Visit this park in the San Luis valley, and check out the largest sand dunes in the United States.
